Time Travel Post #2: Peter Simon
Today’s blast from the past post takes us way back (ok, not WAY back) to the 90’s when the Seminole Arts Council introduced world renowned musician Peter Simon to our little community. Simon is best known for his ability to get his audience enthusiastic about classical music. He’s played in countless venues on both land and sea (Carnagie Hall, The Kennedy Centre, and several cruise ships, just to name a few), as well as starred in shows both in the theater and television.
Simon has graced Seminole State College’s campus several times since then, and his concerts always draw a crowd. He’s passionate about including the arts in education, and devotes a lot of his time to outreach programs in schools across the country.
Here’s a peek at some of his previous visits to Seminole:
As we come back to present day, a new month brings new events! This month, the Second Saturday Art Walk is scheduled for September 11, and will happen alongside Drag Night in the Downtown District! Our favorite food truck, Lucky S Creations~Mobile Eatery, will be back with some delicious grub for dinner AND dessert! Also, applications for Classroom Supply Grants for Visual and Performing Arts are being accepted through Sept. 15th, so if you are an art teacher, click this link to apply! You could get up to $500 to spend on supplies you need for your class!
As always, the arts council is ALWAYS looking for artists (or artists at heart) to join us in our mission to make Seminole even more proud and progressive, so don’t hesitate to reach out!
